Job Description:

In Canada, painters and decorators typically work for construction companies or as independent contractors. Their duties may include preparing surfaces for painting or wallpapering by cleaning them and filling in holes or cracks. They also may be responsible for removing old paint or wallpaper using various methods such as sanding, scraping or chemical stripping.

Once the surface has been prepared properly, painters and decorators apply paint, stain or varnish using brushes, rollers or spray guns. They ensure the work area is kept clean throughout the job and that any spills are cleaned up promptly to prevent damage to surrounding areas. Required Education:

Secondary (high) school graduation certificate or equivalent
